RULE ADDENDUM: June 12th, 2007 (effective date)
If the exhaust pipes do not extend straight up through the hood, no points are awarded, there is a 50% reduction in purse and the car must start at the rear of the race (the 10-point bonus for the exhaust points through the hood will be discontinued effective immediately).

The following rules are to govern the condition of all Redneck Racing Series events.  By participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with the following rules.  NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OR SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND OR REGULATIONS.  They are as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official.

The chief steward and/or series officials and/or competition committee shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements.  NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS.  Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials.  The chief steward and/or officials and/or competition committee may disqualify any car from competition if the vehicle does not conform to the rules and regulations of the event.  Their decision is final.

Drivers, their crew and or guests will act as responsible adults in any and all situations.  Threatening remarks and or un-sportsman like conduct that is observed by officials, you will be asked to leave and will be banned from future events for life.  Any and all problems will be discussed as reasonable adults.

No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection unobserved.  The chief steward and/or series officials and/or competition committee reserves the right to add, delete, modify or update the rules at anytime in the interest of providing parity for all competitors.  These changes may be made via an announcement at the drivers meeting or by technical bulletin.  Notation on the official entry coupon or a technical bulleting and automatically amend all specifications herein.  All changes will be posted except in rare instances.

It is the responsibility of the competitor to obtain and become familiar with the current rules pertaining to the division which he/she chooses to participate.

These vehicles are to remain stock for make, model, year and the engine, rear end and transmission must remain stock with the exception of the modifications that follow.

2007 REDNECK RACING SERIES RULES

ELIGIBLE VEHICLES:  Minimum wheelbase of 100 inches.  Any stock rear wheel drive domestic six or eight cylinder front-engine full or mid-sized coupe, sedan or station wagon allowed.  No all-wheel drives, no 4x4s, no SUVs, no sports cars (examples: Camaros, Capris, Chargers, Dusters, Firebirds, Monzas, Mustangs and Novas) and no trucks.  No manual transmissions.  No supercharged or turbo engines permitted. Cars may be disqualified if they are considered too battered and unsafe as deemed by officials.

OFFICIAL REDNECK RACING SERIES CAR SPECIFICATIONS

NOTE: Cars Must Be Stock.  All Exceptions Are Noted.  ** READ CAREFULLY **

APPEARANCE: All cars must have a registered name/theme mandatory on the car’s door panels.  Car numbers must be painted in a minimum of 24” high numerals on both rear quarter panels and a minimum of 36” and at a 25 degree angle on the roof.  Numbers must be in a contrasting color.  All lettering must be in good taste.  Cars should be washed and free of dirt and mud for asphalt races. 

BATTERY: Battery must be covered with a quality non-flammable marine-type cover or box and installed in a secure location.  Battery must be securely fastened with .125” thick x 2” steel strap.  Battery terminals must be covered in tape on positive side.  All battery switches must have a large “kill” switch, clearly marked “on” and “off” and easily accessible. 

BODY: All body panels must remain stock appearing.  The fenders and wheel wells may be trimmed for tire and wheel clearance.  Damaged nose and tail panels may be replaced with aftermarket plastic pieces.  Damaged body panels may be replaced with aftermarket or OEM steel panels.  Spoilers will be allowed.  Spoiler size may be no larger than 10-inches tall.  Spoilers may be no wider than the rear deck lid.  Spoilers must be at a minimum of 45-degrees angled.  All spoilers must be securely fastened to the car.  No wings on top of the car.

BRAKES:  All cars must have working brakes on all four (4) corners as came from factory.  Brake rotors may be replaced with OEM components not to exceed 12”.  Any OEM caliper may be used.  No aftermarket calipers to be used.  Any brake fluid can be used.  Any type of brake pad can be used.  Any stock (no aftermarket) master cylinder may be used (for safety and dependability).  Rear brake drums must remain stock in width (except cars that come factory with rear disk brakes).

BUMPERS: No bumpers shall extend wider than the width of the front side of the fender.  No bumper shall be any taller than the hood.  The bumper should be no lower than 6” from the pavement.  All bumpers must remain within the confines of the body and no bent bumper ends will be allowed to stick out that may cut a competitors tire or penetrate body work.  No open or exposed ends, sharp edges or spears.  Any body rub rail that has been bent or cracked must be within the confines of the body as not to stick out to endanger tires or fellow racers

CAMBER: Any amount of caster will be allowed.  Any amount of camber will be allowed.  Any amount or direction of toe will be allowed.

FIREWALL: The firewall dividing the engine and driver’s compartment must remain intact.  All holes must be covered or filled with steel sheet metal.  “Quick Release” steering wheels permitted.  Any added sheet metal to the interior may be added as long as the stock floor pans are still in place.

DRIVER ELIGIBILITY:  Only persons that are 14-years of age or older, or as specific track regulations permit, are eligible to compete.

DOORS:  Must be securely welded, riveted or screwed shut.  A racing-approved window net is mandatory with a quick release latch.  Door handles must be removed.  See roll cage section for important information regarding protective driver door bars. 

DRIVE SHAFT, SCATTERSHIELD AND TRANSMISSION:   Drive shaft recommended to be painted white.  A drive shaft hoop, constructed of .250” thick x 2” wide steel strap, must be mounted under the floorboard no further than 6” from the front yoke.  A scattershield or transmission blanket is mandatory.  Automatic transmission permitted only.   Both forward and reverse gears must be operational.  No manual transmissions.  Any OEM transmission may be used.  No aftermarket racing transmissions.  Any transmission cooler may be used.  Transmission cooler may be mounted in any position on car.  Any type transmission fluid may be used, (i.e. racing transmission fluid).  Drive shaft must remain steel. A stock-type, working torque converter must be utilized.

ENGINE:  Stock engine may be replaced with a stock crate, OEM, recycled or remanufactured steel head engine (GM must be straight-plug).  Maximum cubic inch displacement is as follows:  Ford – 351 cubic inch (c.i.), Mopar/Dodge – 360 c.i. and GM – 350 c.i.  Engine make must match make of car. Performance crate engines optimized for racing or street rods  (examples: Ford, GM, Jasper, Mopar/Dodge, etc.) are not permitted.  Engines must conform to the following specifications:  flat-top pistons, maximum six-inch intake height, maximum eight-quart oil pan, bored maximum 60 over, no external oil pump, solid or hydrolic lif cam, no rollers, maximum lift rule of .520 at the valve.  Any aftermarket intake may be used, but not to exceed the original height.  Any type of air cleaner may be used.  Any aftermarket carburetor may be used, but not to exceed 750 CFM.  Any aftermarket valve covers are permitted to help with added breathers. Position of breathers unlimited.  No MSD boxes or the ability to change engine timing from inside the car permitted.  Any type of starter allowed.  No plastic oil pressure lines allowed.  Any HEI type distributor can be used, but no external coils are allowed. Any plug wire style or type allowed.

EXHAUST SYSTEM:  If exhaust pipes extend straight up through the hood, a pre-determined amount of bonus points will be awarded.  Exhaust pipes may not be aimed at other cars.  Pipes may not exceed the height of the roof.  Exhaust system may be wrapped for heat protection to under hood parts.  No added oil or smoke producing unit to be added to exhaust.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER: All cars must be equipped with an operational dry chemical fire extinguisher with gauge that is securely mounted within reach of driver.  Fire systems (halon, etc) may be added with push button activators, clearly marked for fire and safety crews.  Fire extinguisher may not be strapped down with wraps or tape (quick release only)

FLOORBOARD: Original stock floorboards must remain in place.  All holes must be patched with sheet metal.

FRAME OR UNIBODY:  Frame may be “X” braced.  Unibody cars may tie front frame to rear frame.  Any body bushings may be removed

FUEL AND FUEL CELL:  Stock gas tank must be removed.  The use of an approved racing fuel cell, complete with steel container is mandatory.  Any size fuel size may be used.  Fuel cell foam must be utilized.  Fuel cell can be secured using a minimum of three separate .125” thick by 2” wide steel straps around the entire fuel cell so that the fuel cell is secure in each direction.  A steel firewall must completely separate the driver from the tank.  All caps fittings and lines must be secure, leak proof and of high quality.  Metal or rubber gas lines only, no plastic lines.  Stock fuel lines may be replaced with aftermarket braided steel lines.  Fuel lines that run through the driver compartment must run through a metal conduit or pipe.  Electric fuel pumps must have an inertia switch or a clearly marked international safety orange shut-off switch in the middle of the dash within reach of the driver and safety crew.  Overflow vent must be vented higher than the tank and exit the body of the car.  Any type of fuel may be used.  No nitrous oxide or alcohol added to fuel system.

GLASS AND TRIM:  All glass and plastic must be removed.  This includes all chrome lights, reflectors and trim.  Glass inside door panels must be removed.  Trunk and inside of car must be swept clean.  Rearview mirrors are mandatory and must remain within the confines of the driver compartment.  Driver’s side mirrors may be added as long as they remain within the confines of the car.

HOOD, TRUNK, AND HATCHBACK: Minimal sized holes are permitted for the exhaust pipes.  Hood trunk and hatchback must be held down in four positions only by using hood pins.  No welding permitted.  All latches must be removed.  Hood and trunk springs must be removed.  Hood and trunk should be able to be opened anytime for inspection.

INTERIOR:  All knobs, handles, decks, unnecessary upholstery and seats must be removed.  Any material not tied down in driver’s compartment must be removed.

PROTECTIVE SCREEN:  Three vertical steel bars or an approved heavy duty mesh rock screen are mandatory over the drivers half of the windshield.  Lexan windshields are permitted.  Screens may be removed except at dirt track races.  No glass or plexiglass windshields are permitted.

RADIATOR AND COOLING SYSTEM: Aftermarket radiators are allowed.  Radiator must remain in front of the engine in the stock position.  Worn out radiator brackets must be replaced providing the new mounting brackets do not provide any performance or strength advantage.  No angling of the radiator or its brackets.  All antifreeze must be removed and replaced with water.  All vent tubes must remain in, or be routed into, the engine compartment.  Any type and pressure cap may be used.  Any fixed or electric fan is allowed, or both

REAR END: Gear ratios may be changed.  The spider gears may be welded and locked up.  No changed or tied down rear ends.  Any sway bar can be used.  No outside adjusting points (to change wedge) are permitted.  Rear end type must mach car make (example: a Ford rear end in a GM product is not allowed).

RIDE HEIGHT: A minimum ride height of 6” will be enforced.  Measurements will be taken on the chassis points in front of the rear wheel and behind the front wheels on each side.  Measurements will be taken without the driver in the car.

ROLL CAGE:  All roll cages must use minimum of 1.75” OD minimum .095 wall thickness steel tubing.  A roll cage is mandatory and the minimum roll age required is as follows:  the roll cage must consist of four uprights joined together at all four corners of the top hoop.  An x compromised of a diagonal bar running from the top right hand corner of the rear hoop to the lower horizontal bar at the bottom left corner of the rear hoop and the mid level horizontal bar must be in place between the two rear uprights.  Four horizontal bars running between the front and rear uprights are required on the driver’s side and must bow outward.  Vertical uprights must be welded to the outside of the driver’s side door bars.  The plates must cover the area from the top door bar down to the rocker panel and from the rear upright forward to 6” in front of the front edge of the seat.  The bars on the driver’s side and any other bars within the drivers proximity must be padded with closed cell foam roll bar padding.  A minimum of three horizontal bars or an x is required between the front and rear uprights on the passenger side.  A horizontal bar between the two front uprights at just above or just below dashboard level is required.  The plastic housing around the steering column shaft may be cut or removed to accommodate this horizontal bar if necessary.  Kicker support bars are permitted for the front and rear uprights.  A vent window bar between the A-pillar roll cage leg post and the uppermost top door bar on each side of the car.  Locations must be no further forward than 50% of the distance from the a-pillar/ top hoop joint and the dash bar; 2) A centerline windshield bar that runs from the top hoop to the dash bar ; 3) a centerline roof that runs front to back across the middle of the top hoop; and 4)  a diagonal bar running from the top left corner of the rear hoop to the lower horizontal bar at the bottom right corner of the rear hoop.  All critical roll cage joints should be gusseted.  A front engine hoop, with bars to protect the radiator is permitted.  Fuel cell protection, mounted frame rail to frame rail inside the trunk area no higher than the fuel cell is mandatory.  All bars with the exception of the aforementioned bumpers and rub rails must remain inside the body of the car.  The roll cage may not reinforce the body or frame or alter the geometry of the car.  All bars must be professionally welded all the way around at ever joint.  Any vehicles with welds deemed to be unsafe will not be permitted onto the track for practice or racing until the situation is corrected to the satisfaction of the chief steward.  All vehicles with frames must have the cage welded directly to the frame and not the floorboards.  No unwelded seams in cage construction.  All unibody vehicles without frames must use the sandwich method when securing the cage into the vehicle.  The bottom of each upright must be welded to a 6” x 6” x .250” thick steel plate and using a minimum of four (4) .500” inch bolts and lock nuts, bolted through the floorboard to another 6” x 6” x .250” thick steel plate on the underside of the car.  Driver’s helmeted head must not protrude outside of roll cage.  Roll bar padding must be within 12” of drivers head all way around the car.  Extra padding is encouraged.  A steel plate at least 1/8th of an inch between the door skin and the outside cage is mandatory.  SAFETY OF THE ROLL CAGE WILL BE AT THE CHIEF STEWARD’S DISCRETION.

SAFETY:  All entrants must wear an aftermarket, fire-retardant NOMEX or equivalent racing suit, gloves and SFI racing shoes at all times.  Equipment must be labeled flame resistant or carry the SFI-certification patch.   Drivers suits, gloves and shoes must be in good condition and have no tears or be oil soaked to the point of being a fire threat.  All entrants must wear a proper-fitting SNELL SA-95, SNELL SA-2000 or SNELL 2005 approved racing helmet at all times.  All entrants must wear protective eye goggles or use a helmet face shield.  The use of NOMEX socks and underwear is strongly recommended, but not mandatory.  The use of an SFI certified head and neck restraint system is strongly recommended.  Neck collars are recommended but not mandatory.  NO M-rated (motorcycle) helmets allowed.  ALL SAFETY MATTERS WILL BE AT THE CHIEF STEWARD’S DISCRETION.

SEAT: Seat must be an aluminum, high-backed racing seat.  Seat must be properly and securely mounted per the manufacturer’s directions.  Seat padding material must be fire proof or retardant

SEAT BELTS: The use of any racing-approved five-point racing seat belt harness is mandatory.  Airbags must be removed.  Burned, faded, tattered and/or worn belts must be replaced.  A six or seven point harness is recommended.  No drag racing “Y” type harness allowed.

SUSPENSION: All upper A-arms must be stock-type for the make of the car or be aftermarket tube a-arms.  Any size or type of bolt to mount front sway bar is permitted. Any factory (OEM) size sway bar may be added.  Any type of bushing material is allowed.  Rubber bushing inside the springs may be added.  Rear springs must be welded in place or attached so as not to be dismounted from perch when hard in a hard corner.  Springs may be changed.

TIRES & WHEELS: American Racer “CRASHCar”-stamped tires, or any street DOT radial 60s or 70s permitted.  All four tires on the car must be the same size and make at each corner.  A 15”, racing-approved wheel must be used.  No slicks will be allowed.  A minimum 7/16” wheel stud must be used for strength and reduce the chance of wheel loss.   NOTE:  ***A tire and or wheel violation will result in the seizure of tires and wheels, forfeiture of all points, prize money.***

TRANSPONDER: All cars may be required to be equipped with an electronic scoring transponder.

WEIGHT RULE: The mandated minimum weight will be 3,400 lbs., no matter what make of automobile.  Cars will be weighed with the driver aboard.  Cars must make weight following races.  At scales, fuel may be added to meet weight.
